Global Range: Occurs in the Lower Colorado River section of the Sonoran Desert in California and Baja California. In Baja, it appears to be most common in the San Felipe Desert region, extending southward along the Gulf of California to about Bahía de los Angeles (J. Rebman pers. comm. 2009), possibly as far south as the vicinity of El Arco near the Baja California Sur state line (GBIF 2009). Small populations have also been found in the arid mountain ranges near Mexicali in northeastern Baja, such as the Sierra el Mayor and Sierra de los Cucapá (J. Rebman pers. comm. 2009). Disjunct occurrences are known from the Chocolate Mountains and the southern flanks of the Chuckawalla Mountains in Imperial and southern Riverside Counties, California. Most known California locations are along the eastern edge of the Imperial Valley.
