Description
Observed basking on a rock in Barton Creek off the Greenbelt Trail (not far from the scottish woods trail entrance). A good sized apalone mutica was partially submerged on the same rock. The creek was relatively still, temperature was 83 degrees farenheit with relatively high humidity. Having trouble with the id, Deirochelys r. miaria or Pseudemys nelsoni? Vertical stripes on the posterior limbs. I haven't seen records for either species in Travis County.
