(Tuvalu); Nena (Hawaiʻi); Nuna (Tokelau); Nunanuna (Societies); Patakomata (Marquesas); Runa (Cooks?, Mangareva, Tuamotus); Ufi ʻātuli (Samoa); Ufi viole (Samoa, a modern name)  Indigenous to the Hawaiian Islands Oʻahu  Early Hawaiians and Samoans used the large roots of alena for medicinal purposes.
