Many Periodical Cicadas, Magicicada speces were emerging that evening. This one was coming out of its case right next to a trail, but in a patch of poison ivy--uggh. I finally had the bright idea of placing a light tarp underneath so I could set up my tripod and get down low to work.  Note the dark blobs on the thorax, which ZXGirl calls "Groucho Marx eyebrows".
