Description
Amanita flavescens (E.-J. Gilbert & S. Lundell) Contu  A pinkish-buff Amanita of the Amanita sect. Vaginatae stirps Crocea, preferring clearings under birch (Betula pendula). These particular specimens are rather brightly-coloured and slim - they were growing in a shady young birch growth, while it's much more common to see this species on suburban lawns near birches.  Many thanks to Dr. Rod Tulloss for the ID.
