Description
In the Gulf Stream off of Hatteras, North Carolina. These lovely birds were rather wary, and did not approach the boat closely and sit on the water, but they did buzz around us with dizzying acrobatics at medium range. This species is declining, and considered endangered by the IUCN. See, also, the Wikipedia article. However they are seen regularly on North Carolina pelagics--see seabirding.com/.  Pterodroma_hasitataPCCA20070623-3608A1
