Description | A voracious snail predator, this snail uses the moustache shaped sensory organs around its mouth to follow the slime trails made by other snails. This species was introduced to many islands in disastrous and ultimately ineffective attempts to biologically control exotic species of snails that had become agricultural pests. Although unable to control the crop pests, this species devastated populations of native snails leading to the extinction or near extinction of many species. |
