Description
At the end of a Native Plant Society field trip to Balcones Canyonlands NWR, retired botany Prof. Arthur C. Gibson picked a single plant which was subsequently identified as Spotted Knapweed. This apparently constitutes a first documented record for Texas of this very invasive species. A voucher species was secured. The observation was logged into the Early Detection & Distribution Mapping System at EDDMapS.org as record ID 3212203. See subsequent observations on 8 June 2014 and control efforts.
